This is our list of the 13 Anime With Worst Final Season! Everyone remembers the dark era of 2019 when the final season of Game of Thrones arrived. Sadly, it was nothing but a huge disappointment. After decades of foreshadowing and world-building, we were presented with a half-baked product. Well, the anime world has also seen many such failures in terms of bad final seasons.
While some endings are quite obvious because we cannot get over the disappointment, there are some subtle references that fans often forget. So, without any further ado, here are some Anime With Worst Final Season.
Fullmetal Alchemist
The first name on this list of the Anime With Worst Final Season is Fullmetal Alchemist. Many fans would agree that the finale of Fullmetal Alchemist was sloppy and not up to the writing of the earlier seasons. The arc that involves Ed’s sacrifice in reincarnation in the world as a king was one of the most out-of-place acts of the anime. All of the foreshadowing and build-ups were left with an incompatible final season.
ERASED
The next name on this list is the 2016 show Erased. One of the main reasons fans disliked the ending of Erased is because of the fact that Satoru Fujinuma goes into a 20-year coma. It was Mr. Yashiro who was keeping him alive, only to kill him by the end. However, the fact that Yashiro did not have any clear motivations to kill the protagonist makes the story even more pointless.

Digimon Adventure Series 2
There is a large group of viewers who believe that Digimon Adventure Series 2 did not get a deserving ending. After years of adventure and lethal fightings, all the characters grow up and end up having kids. The second series takes up the story of these children who are exactly the carbon copy of their parents. Banking on nostalgia is understandable, but when you don’t have anything unique to present, the story becomes repetitive and sloppy.
KADO: The Right Answer
The next name on this list of the Anime With Worst Final Seasons is KADO The Right Answer. Much like every other show that struggles with the curse of the second half, this one faces the same trouble. KADO begins with much excitement and enthusiasm as we see an illustrated world where aliens invade the human race. However, as we move forward with the story, it becomes clear that the beginning was the best part of the anime. All the things that you probably like about the series do not even appear by the end.
Future Diary
The Future Diary anime series is critically acclaimed, but the same does not apply to the final season. The entire story sticks to the original premise. However, it was the necessary post-credit scene that messes the entire plotline. Fans see that Yukiteru’s diary shows a text stating that “Yuno came to meet me.” Many of the viewers could not understand the point of this epilogue. Hence, what could have been a beautiful ending became a confusing one.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
The next name on this list of the Anime With Worst Final Season is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Some series have bittersweet and disappointing endings. But this one stretched it too far. The popular characters Simon and Nia finally become partners by the end of the show. However, it looks like the makers were not happy with a wholesome conclusion. So, they decided to kill off the character in her own wedding. This not only ruins all the foreshadowing but also makes fans hate the anime.
Osomatsu-San
Another addition to this list is the 2015 anime series, Osomatsu-San. This comedy show follows the same fate as the Digimon series. All the six identical brothers start behaving out of character by the season finale. Everything looks rushed and mismatched as fans watch all the quirky and fun characters becoming serious. Even though the brothers ought to become like this, the build-up was not enough.
The Seven Deadly Sins
The next name on this list is The Seven Deadly Sins. This one also gets trapped into the curse of a sloppy ending. With much action to play with, makers decided to create a rest ending with multiple arcs coming from all sides. Hence, fans of The Seven Deadly Sins just cannot get over the fact that their favorite series never saw a satisfactory conclusion.

Sword Art Online
The Isekai anime series Sword Art Online was loved and appreciated by viewers and critics from all over the world. One of the most significant plots that people specifically dislike is the conclusive part of the show. It turns out that the hero of the show, Asuna becomes a rather helpless boy who gave up in front of Kayaba very soon. This led to many fans getting disappointed in the writing of the final season.
Soul Eater
The next name on this list of the Anime With Worst Final Season is Soul Eater. The ending of this show is particularly disliked by a large community of fans. One of the main reasons for this is the arc where Maka and the villain end the ultimate fight on their own. Because of this, the rest of the characters look like side parts and not the integral part of the show.
Tokyo Ghoul √A
On the tenth spot of this list is the wildly popular anime, Tokyo Ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul √A also has a bad reputation in terms of a Final Season. Well, one of the central reasons why the ending could not impress fans was because it was an original idea of the makers. Instead of drawing stories from the original text, the writers decided to create an original ending. This was not digested by any fan and the finale ended up getting some pretty bad reviews.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The next name on this list of the Anime With Worst Final Season is Neon Genesis Evangelion. Of all the multiple endings of this particular show, the original one is by far the worst. The final cathartic moment of Shinji Ikari is nothing but disappointing in all sorts. There is nothing more unsatisfactory than watching the protagonist become a worthless character in the subtext.
Death Note
The final name on our list of the Anime With Worst Final Season is Death Note. Many fans would argue that DN is only a single-season venture. However, the second arc is often called the second season of the show. The reason why it is one of the worst endings is that protagonist Yagami Light loses his entire character development in the face of death. He cries and whines like a child, which makes fans nothing but cringe.
