For the past three years, the fans have been waiting to see Nana Maru San Batsu Season 2. Its debut installment ended back in 2017, and ever since then, the fans are getting desperate to see more of this sports anime series as it already featured some great quiz bowls. And the fans are certain that it will get even more intense. So, will the second season ever happen? Here is everything to know.
Nana Maru San Batsu, aka Fastest Finger First, is a Japanese sports anime series. It is the remake of the sports manga series of the same name by Iqura Sugimoto. The anime series made its debut on July 4, 2017. This one also had a short run of twelve episodes which concluded on September 19, 2017. Recently the series has also inspired two live-action stage plays.
Nana Maru San Batsu Season 2: Renewal Status!
The first season of Fastest Finger First, produced by TMS Entertainment, received a great response from the fans. The critics also gave positive reviews to its debut season. But despite, the studio hasn’t renewed the series for its second season. Not only the production company but the author of the manga series is also pretty tight-lipped about the future of the show. Fortunately, the makers didn’t cancel the show as well. Hence, fans are still hopeful that there will be Fastest Finger First Season 2.
Is There Enough Source Material?
Just like several other anime shows, this one also follows the plot from the manga series. So, the animation studio must have enough chapters to follow to continue the storyline of the series. There is a total of 18 volumes in the manga series of Fastest Finger First, with the latest being released in 2019. The debut season of the series has only followed its plot from the first few volumes. Therefore, TMS Entertainment can easily produce Nana Maru San Batsu Season 2 with the remaining source material. They can even make two more installments of the anime series.
Nana Maru San Batsu Season 2: Will The Anime Return?
The first season of this sports anime series has a score of 6.69 on MyAnimeList. However, its ratings and viewership were below the expectations of its makers. This might be the main reason behind the delay in its sequel. Hence, as of now, it seems like the production company is hesitating in investing their money in a show with low ratings. Plus, its popularity has also decreased in the past few years, and that gradually reduces the chances for its second season to happen.
However, given that fans are still demanding Nana Maru San Batsu Season 2, there is a possibility that the makers might renew the show. If the second season of the anime series gets the green flag, it is likely that the makers will announce it this very year. The length of hiatus will only decrease the chances for the sequel of Fastest Finger First to happen.
