Attack on Titan Season 4 Ending Explained
Attack On Titan Season 4 Episode 87 begins with a flashback scene. The flashback answers most of the questions and fills in many gaps. Firstly, the mystery behind how did Eren separated from the Survey Corps came forward. Moreover, an instance with a pick pocketer surely brought the brutality of the world towards the island demons. It is seen that the survey corps finally stepped foot on the land of Marley. Having met with the outside world for the first time, everyone enjoyed learning about the once foreign things: ice cream and cars. However, soon Levi catches a pickpocketer stealing Sasha’s purse.
This leads to a crowd surrounding the little kid and suggesting various atrocious activities that would serve as a punishment. Soon, the crowd proposed that the kid was an Eldian and continued cruel ways of abuse as a form of repentance. This sends chills down the visitors from Paradis. Levi then saved the kid from the torture. While this took place, Mikasa found Eren wondering all to himself. It can be said that these natural occurrences persuaded Eren into not backing down with his decision of Rumbling.
Another scene that came forward was when the survey corps attended the court where Eldians of Marley requested the world to loathe the creatures inside the walls since they chose to stay there. The man later stated that the Eldians outside the walls mean no harm. These tiny details shaped Eren’s mind to a great extent. However, the decision of Rumbling was made long back. Eren had joined hands with Floch during the Euthanasia plan. He also revealed the truth to Historia.
Reason Behind Eren’s Rumbling!
In the episode, Eren reveals details about why he chooses to begin Rumbling. When Eren confronted Historia, he gave her the reasoning behind his choices. Historia concluded that she would willingly surpass any extent for the island’s survival. However, Eren disclosed a change in plans. He stated that he would exterminate all of his enemies. Since a child, Eren has gone through unspeakable sorrows. However, when he wondered what the beginning of it all was, he did not seem to care about the place. He knew what he was born to do.
According to Eren, it is through Rumbling that Paradis island could be saved. He wishes to end the cycle of children eating their parents in order to inherit the powers of titans. Through the Rumbling, the island and the world will seek freedom. Freedom from the acts of King Fritz and the legacy of titans. Finally, the episode saw the series back in the present time, with Eren and the thousand of colossal titans surrounding him. The Global Fleet tried to stop the gigantic titans but failed to do so. It is clear that this is just the beginning of humanity’s doom.
Could Mikasa Be Able To Stop Eren?
The question was raised by Mikasa herself, and there is no straight answer to it. Eren had always loved his friends, and they are the prime reason for what he is doing now. Back in Marley, Eren asked Zeke about the recurring headaches Mikasa would get. As per the words of Zeke, no Ackerman gene compels them to protect their ‘host.’ Moreover, he concludes that Mikasa has feelings for Eren and asks his brother’s response to it. Eren, on the other hand, confirmed that he has only four years left to live. His decisions are only so after his death that his friends can live a longer and happier life.
