There are new developments in the Blade Runner Black Lotus franchise. After a hefty conclusion on Crunchyroll, the series will now be hitting the screens of HBO Max! Fans of the Blade Runner franchise were excited when the Black Lotus came after almost half a decade of waiting for more content. Fans have rejoiced with the announcement that the anime series will be available on one more streaming platform, HBO Max. The franchise is popular for its cyberpunk and neo-noir themes, with the original movie becoming a cult classic.
A 1968 Phillip K. Dick novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, inspired the Blade Runner franchise. Ridley Scott directed a loose film adaptation titled ‘Blade Runner’. A comic adaptation and a novel adaptation were out in the same year. In 2015, the franchise announced a sequel that eventually came out in 2017. In 2018, Alcon Entertainment, in partnership with Crunchyroll and Adult Swim, announced the beginning of Blade Runner Black Lotus, which eventually came out in 2021. Season 1 ran for 13 episodes.

Blade Runner Black Lotus: HBO’s Lisencing Contract!
Warner Media’s streaming platform, HBO Max, recently released a list of all the shows that would be coming to the platform this year. In the list, they revealed that Black Lotus is also going to hit the screens. After the successful run of Euphoria Season 2, it seems that the HBO Max team is giving out little treats to fans. However, one little bit did not escape any fan’s notice. The listing says that it will be Season 1 that is on the platform. This goes on to mean that there might be more seasons and more episodes of the anime series. Unfortunately, there is no official confirmation regarding a new season yet. So fans will have to rewatch the first season and wait for any announcements.
What Is The Anime About?
The story happens in the same Blade Runner Universe. But according to the timeline, Black Lotus occurs ten years after Blade Runner Black Out 2022 short film in the year 2032. It begins with a girl without memories but with extremely deadly skills. She is a replicant named Elle. And her only clues about who she is, are a locked device of data and the tattoo of a black lotus. She goes by the name Elle. The story follows her trying to hunt down people who made her like this and put together the pieces of her lost memory and past.
She meets several familiar Blade Runner characters from the franchise as she explores the world. The series has a strong science fiction world and cyberpunk themes. Alcon Entertainment came together with Adult Swim and Crunchyroll in a partnership to create this series. Shinichiro Watanabe was the creative producer who accompanied Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama in the direction of the series. Solo Digital Arts was the animation studio for the series.
