Deadman Wonderland is easily one of the most renowned banner anime series of all time. Based on the themes of action and dystopia, DW has reigned in its early days of release. The show derives its plot from Jinsei Kataoka’s manga of the same name. The anime project was initiated by Studio Manglobe. Now, fans hope to see Season 2 return to the screens.
Deadman Wonderland Season 2: Renewal Status!
Ever since the show came to a halt in October 2011, there has been no news of the renewal of the series. Neither Manglobe Studio nor any of the licensors ever teased the incoming of the second season. In fact, as years pass by, the return of the show will become more difficult. The main reason behind the sudden halt of the show was the closure of the production studio of the anime.
In the early months of 2015, Manglobe Inc. went into a serious debt crisis. The debt money added up to 350 million Yen ($3.2 Mn). As a result of this bankruptcy, the company was dissolved, and most of the directors and producers landed with other production studios. Even though an original team of the project has parted ways, there is still a fair chance that a new team can be formed to take up the work. However, the chances of that are highly unlikely, especially when a decade has passed.
Is It Finally Cancelled?
Since the past decade, Deadman Wonderland Season 2 has only appeared in news of cancellations and renewal speculations. However, since the beginning of 2021, the pilot season of the show has been trending on Netflix. The content platform itself announced that the buzz around the show was rapidly growing. Is There Enough Source Material?
The source material is not the area of concern in the return of this show. The pilot season of Deadman Wonderland used only twelve of the fifty-eight chapters of the original manga. Thus, it is safe to say that the original text can lend material for more than four seasons. In fact, the story of the manga has remained undisputed in all sorts. Thus, no studio will have to rely on an original story to fill the gaps.
