Domestic Girlfriend tells the story of a high schooler Natsuo Fujii who is trying to move from the love he feels for his teacher. But things start to change when he meets a strange girl named Rui Tachibana. Out of the grief of missing his teacher, he sleeps with Rui. On the next day, his father confesses to him that he is going to marry his girlfriend. In walk Tsukiko Tachibana, the mother of the teacher he loves. But the trouble does not end here. Along with the woman, two daughters also walk in. And one of them is Rui and Hina herself.
The first season continued to follow Natsuo as he tried to balance his equation with each of these women. The final episode, titled “I’m Sorry. I Love You,” Hina leaves the school after her secret relationship reaches the ears of the principal. Thus, in exchange for her silence, she asked for a transfer to a distant school. On the other side, Natsuo went into depression after she left. Towards the end of the season, Natsuo became a novel writer hoping to meet with Hina. As for Rui, she was happy enough to be with Natsuo as his girlfriend.
The next season will pick up the story from the 73rd chapter of the manga. ‘A New Wind’ begins with a time leap. Rui is now working on a new profession which is cooking. Her dream is to become the most renowned chef in the world. But her personal life is not as aspiring as she expects it to be. Knowing that Rui still loves Hina, she can not feel content in the relationship. Are these the early signs of infidelity?
Domestic Girlfriend Season 2: Release Details
With the confirmation that the sequel has been canceled, there might not be any release window for two years at the least. Even if there are enough petitions and fans demanding a second season, a year’s time is minimal for production and other errands. In either case, Domestic Girlfriend Season 2 is not returning anytime before 2023.
