After Dr. Stone Anime Season 2’s successful run in early 2021, fans have been excited for Dr. Stone Season 3. Shueisha’s Jump Festa 2022 unveiled a promotional video and an announcement for the third season. So, here is everything you need to know about the anime.
Riichiro Inagaki authored the Dr. Stone manga, and Boichi illustrated it. The manga has been running in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump since March 2017 and has 23 volumes. TMS Entertainment adapted the manga to an anime series in July 2019. Moreover, the second season aired from January 2021 to March 2021. In addition to this, Poppin Games Japan is adapting the series to a smartphone game in 2021. Now, fans are looking forward to the third installment.
Dr. Stone Season 3: New Trailer & Ryusui Special Series!
In addition to announcing Dr. Stone Season 3, Jump Festa ‘22 also announced a television anime special, “Dr. Stone: Ryusui”. TMS Entertainment will be producing this as well. The special will be chronologically set after the second season. So, Ryusui will be taking the central role in this TV series. Ryouta Suzuki will voice his character. The Festa’s promotional video is for both the announcements.
The promotional video for the special opens with a shot of the title in orange that switches to blue. Then the frame begins with Ryusui snapping his fingers. The screen blacks out, and then a photo collage follows. Snippets of the characters and important plot points of the story are rapidly sequenced, followed by a shot of the Earth. Plot Details!
The context of the story falls in the year 2038. All human life gets petrified to stone. The cause is unknown, and 3700 years have passed. Then, Senku Ishigami is suddenly revived, and he is in the year 5738, with almost all civilization disappearing. Eventually, he understands a way to revive humans. The story follows Senku as he navigates across the almost pre-historic world with his friends and delves into a deeper understanding of science and humanity.
Season 2 of the anime focused on the war between the Kingdom of Science and the Empire of Might. However, it ended with the beginning of the Age of Exploration Arc. So fans can expect Dr. Stone Season 3 to pick up from there. However, the anime special may give weight to Ryusui’s character in the same context. Moreover, fans expect to see a continuation of the Treasure Island Arc from the manga.
