As soon as the pilot season of Fena Pirate Princess came to a halt, fans began to demand a second season. Beginning on August 15, 2021, FPP turned out to be one of the most popular shows of recent years. The collaborative effort by Crunchyroll and Adult Swim did fairly well on the weekly charts. However, now that the show has come to pause, the fans are left hanging. So, what is the renewal status of Fena Pirate Princess Season 2? Is the sequel returning? Keep reading further to find out.
Kazuto Nakazawa’s original vision for a fantasy story came to the screens in August 2021. The project was backed by Crunchyroll and Adult Swim. Production I.G animated the show. And now, twelve episodes later, fans are demanding more. So, is there a future to Fena’s story? Here is all you need to know.
Fena Pirate Princess Season 2: Renewal Status
Amongst all the shows that came out in the Fall 2021 slate, Fena Pirate Princess remained an outperforming show. Both the popular and the critical responses to the anime have been commendable. The MyAnimeList rating of the show has been 7.35 stars. Moreover, the show has been rated 7.7 by users on IMDb. On top of that, episodes of the show have stayed dominant in discussion threads as well.
While there is no confirmation on the official renewal of the show, all the numbers are hinting towards an easy return. Moreover, the plotline and its continuation are also in favor of the renewal. Thus, fans can hope to get the official update in a short duration. We will be sure to update this section accordingly.
Plot Details!
The plot of Fena Pirate Princess revolves around the life of the titular character, Fena Houtman. Set in the 18th century, the story of Fena focuses on the oppression of the poor and the powerless by the British regime. Most of the plot revolves around the search mystery of Eden, the key to the freedom of all the residents of the Island. In the course of the twelve episodes, Fena forms a team of rebels who help her in decoding the mystery behind “Eden.”
In the final episode of Season 1, Fena is presented with the toughest choice of her life. She had to choose between the status quo of the world and the resetting of events. In either case, the memories of the ‘Maiden of Choosing’ are wiped out. Fena made her decision, and the world was reset again. By the end of the season, the Goblin knights took Fena on a voyage in hopes of reviving her memories. In the end, Yukimaru also confessed his feelings towards Fena.
Now, Fena Pirate Princess Season 2 will continue the same storyline from this point. Fena’s memories have still not recovered. Moreover, the plot has a lot in store for Cody. The Observer’s origins and intentions are yet to be explored. Besides, the fate of the world after the resetting will also be looked into. Fans can also expect to see more developments in the romantic relationship between Yukimaru and Fena.
Is There Enough Source Material?
The biggest contrast with Fena Pirate Princess in terms of the source material is that the debut anime was not based on any text. The project was a completely original idea of Adult Swim and Crunchyroll. The best advantage of not having a source material is that constraints of the plot are absent. Thus, fans can be hopeful for season renewals for as long as the story continues. In the case of Fena Pirate Princess Season 2, the renewal is easier as the plot development is in the hands of the makers.
On top of that, writer Kazuto Nakazawa has not revealed anything specific about the future of the story. Hence, it is safe to say that the anime will continue for a long while.
Fena Pirate Princess Season 2: Release Date
For the time being, there has been no confirmation on either the production or the renewal of the sequel. Based on the decent reception of the pilot season, the show is expected to see a renewal in a few months. If Fena Pirate Princess Season 2 sees a renewal this year itself, the production will take around half a year. Thus, fans can expect to see the sequel by Fall 2022 at the earliest. This section will be updated as more updates come from official sources.
