Gekidol is a Japanese original music sci-fi anime series. However, its story is partially based on stage plays. The word Gekidol itself is made up of theatre, anime, and idol. The makers announced this project back in December 2015 under the command of Hoods Entertainment for its animation. It finally premiered after a gap of five long years on January 5, 2021. It ended on March 3, 2021, after running for twelve episodes. As of now, fans are waiting for the renewal of Gekidol Season 2.
Gekidol Anime Review
The first couple of episodes of this show were pretty average. As a result, some fans even dropped the show as they thought it would be nothing more than an average anime. However, the third and the fourth episodes entirely changed things in favor of anime. In fact, the third episode even received applause for addressing some controversial subjects. On the other hand, the fourth one was really unpredictable as Aira and Seria took their relationship to the next point. These two episodes successfully managed to get the attention of the viewers back. However, yet again, the anime turned quite average after that.
There was a build-up for a lot of complex problems in the initial episodes. However, they didn’t play any major role in its central plot. Some of the closing moments were simple and powerful, but fans expected a lot more from its season finale. Most of the viewers didn’t even understand its ending and felt like the pacing of the season finale was way too rushed. As a result, Gekidol failed to score big and has a poor score on MAL (5.65 out of 10) and other rating platforms.
Gekidol Season 2: Renewal Status!
As we stated above, the pacing in the last few episodes of the anime’s debut season was way too fast. It even confused the viewers, and they failed to interpret its ending. As a result, they are demanding an explanation for several plot holes from the makers. A lot of things that seemed really important in the middle episodes played no part in the overall plot of the series. So, the viewers want their closure there as well. The average reviews and ratings of the anime are not that good. Thereby, the only thing that favors the anime’s return is the demand for a second round. If the demand increases, then Hood Entertainment likely thinks about renewing Gekidol Season 2. However, currently, the chances for the second season to happen are pretty low.
Gekidol Season 2: Release Date
The story of the first season was unique, but at the same time, it was way too complicated, which messed up everything. Nothing can be said about the release date of its sequel until the makers announce it officially.
