Texas lawmaker Matt Shaheen has recently confirmed his distaste towards obscene and pornography content that he has found in public schools. The Republican has shared a list of books, and among those, the manga series Goblin Slayer has also been frowned upon. Shaheen has not only opted for a ban on this comic but has also made homophobic remarks in his statement. Now, finally, is the Goblin Slayer ban possible in the United States? Will it result in the book getting removed from Texas public schools? Here are all the details.
Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy series. It is a creation of Komu Kagyu. It consists of both light novel and a manga version. The text is not new to controversies under its name. It is worth mentioning that the very first episode of Goblin Slayer shares scenes of rape. It is considered to be a hard watch among many anime fans. Moreover, many okatus have even called it to be a bad influence over the youth.
Goblin Slayer Ban: Matt Shaheen Urges For The Removal Of Obscene Content!
The prime daily newspaper of Texas, Houston Chronicle, has published a statement from the Republican representative, Matt Shaheen. According to reports, Shaheen has named a few books that have questionable content in them. According to the Texas lawmaker, the scenes are not acceptable, and whoever claims this as content for children can be termed “mentally ill.” Now, one such name in the long list of the offensive graphic content sections that has popped up is Goblin Slayer.
Shaheen did not directly mention Komu Kagyu’s Goblin Slayer. However, the intent was pretty clear. According to Shaheen, the text has many pornographic visuals. Moreover, it also delivers scenes of young males caught up in sexual acts. While all this already triggered the Republican, mentions of demons raping women was also made. Finally, Shaheen has proposed the Goblin Slayer ban and put forward his initiative to hold the vendors accountable directly.

Goblin Slayer And It’s Content
While Goblin Slayer is nothing new to getting backlash for its content, fans argue that books with triggering visuals should not be in school libraries in the first place. Some fans on Reddit even argue that the Texas Lawmaker made special efforts to point out this manga. Another text that is under Shaheen’s radar is Maia Kobabe’s Gender Queer: A Memoir which also features LGBTQ+ graphics much like the anime Goblin Slayer.
On the other hand, the makers of Goblin Slayer already rate the text for adults. Moreover, Crunchyroll issues an advisory warning due to the edgy content that the show showcases. Now, the question remains if Shaheen and their fellow Republicans will succeed in banning the text in certain parts of the United States. According to the lawmaker, the ban is only due to ‘obscene and pornographic content. However, the manga has long since steered away from that plotline and has brought a brand new take. Currently, it is focusing more on the main leads and their life stories.
It is out of no question that Goblin Slayer has been a controversial anime because of its triggering visuals. However, the anime and the manga have brought in a new storyline in their past editions. All in all, Matt Shaheen’s take on the series might cause a Goblin Slayer ban and wrest the series from many of its US fans. Finally, for more updates on the same, keep an eye on our page.
