Golden Kamuy is based on the adventure of the same name. The series takes place in the Russo-Japanese war timeline. The story revolves around the life of a war veteran named Saichi Sugimoto. He finds a treasure map leading to hidden Ainu gold. He then sets off to find the lost gold. However, Sugimoto soon faces trouble as he comes across many other search parties in pursuit of the lost gold.
So, Sugimoto then seeks the help of an Ainu girl Asirpa to help him. The rest of the series follows the pairs’ adventures as they battle harsh conditions to find the Ainu Gold. Most importantly, the duo must face rogue Japanese soldiers and violent criminals to survive. Sugimoto will have to depend on his skills and luck to navigate the treacherous path that lies ahead.
