China and the anime world don’t seem to match up on matters pretty well. Even though the industry has questionable standards of what can and cannot be considered pornographic, most of the content that is released under the name of anime are gleefully accepted all over the world. But same is not the case with China. After multiple bans on banners one after the others, it looks like there is a new controversy that is brewing around Jujutsu Kaisen. So, why did the makers release an apology? Will JJK also face a ban in China? Here is all you need to know about the matter.

The worse part of the matter unfolds when the fans disapprove of the apology that was made public this week. Fans had to say that the post was not public enough as it was not made on Twitter.

Jujutsu Kaisen Releases Apology On Taiwan Matter

In a small yet recognizable scene of JJK anime, a character seems to call Taiwan a country. This directly insinuates the fact that this state is an entity of its own. This particular part has angered many Chinese netizens who took to Twitter to bash the makers of the anime. Fans believed that such mistakes are to be taken into account and the producers are answerable for such comments.

Soon after, the Chinese Netizens began to demand an apology from the makers. The complaint was taken into consideration soon enough and they did release an apology. On the Chinese Twitter Weibo, the makers wrote that they were concerned about the contents posted by the Japanese Twitter account of JJK. The content was already up for removal. And they were also deeply sorry about the matter. But the tweet itself began to get backlash.

Why Are Fans Unhappy With The Tweet?

But it turned out that fans were not happy with the tone of the apology. They felt that since the post was made on the Japanese Twitter account, then the apology should also be posted on the same feed. Some of the angry tweets say that issues of national sovereignty are absolutely unacceptable, no matter how interesting the animation is. Some fans also say that JJK clearly wants to earn money that was why they were acting at such a pace.

But that is not the entire picture. On the other side of the frame, fans came to the defense of the anime to claim that JJK did nothing wrong. They iterate that in some parts of the world including Japan and the United States, Taiwan is not considered as part of China.

This has clearly become a matter of political and personal beliefs and Jujutsu Kaisen is in a tough position. In a similar case some years ago, My Hero Academia unknowingly named a character same as a Russian Spy. This ultimately led to the banning of the show altogether. For now, fans can only hope that something similar does not happen with JJK. Until then, you will get all the latest updates of anime right on this page. Thus, stay in touch with The Anime Daily.
