Satoshi Kon’s Millennium Actress movie is finally returning with a powerful comeback on Netflix. Fans have been keenly waiting to hear this news. The movie was first released in Japan back in 2001. It gained a massive following and fanbase as it was loosely based on the lives of actresses Hideko Takamine and Setsuko Hara. But, it’s been more than a decade now, and finally, Satoshi Kon revealed the future of Millennium Actress.
It follows the life of Chiyoko Fujiwara, the best-known start belonging to Ginei Studios. One of the well-known but bankrupt film studios. After the studio was forced to shut down, Chiyoko appeared in an interview. Later the story followed a story that focused on a story within a story. It focused on the scenes of her appearing in the films and her experience throughout this journey.
Millennium Actress: Official Announcement
Last year the news surfaced that Fathom Events and Eleven Arts anime studio were preparing for a new English-dub version of Millennium Actress. The classically animated feature film was due to air back in August 2019 on the big screen. But recently, the news surfaced that Netflix has picked the movie and is ready to drop it soon on the streaming platform. Well, it appeared as the first US theatrical release as Eleven Arts worked with VSI Los Angeles to produce an English dub.
Millennium Actress: Who Could Be In The Cast?
The entire movie follows the story of Chiyoko Fujiwara and the people she met throughout her journey. Thus there are plenty of people in the movie. However, let’s take a look at who will give voice to Chiyoko. Abby Trott has played the young Chiyoko character, while Erin Yvette has played the adult Chiyoko character. Apart from them, the elder and old Chiyoko role is played by Cindy Robinson and Christian Swindler. Meanwhile, Ben Diskin voiced over Kyoji Ida, and Laura Post played Eiko Shimao.
Millennium Actress: Release Date
Recently Netflix’s official Twitter account of Japan Anime dropped that Satoshi Kon’s original anime movie would release on June 1, 2022. The news appeared on May 27, 2022. The giant streaming platform revealed the fate of other anime movies too. It announced Link Click would drop on the same day as Millennium, while Spriggan will air on June 18.
