This was the only time fans ever heard about season 5. But the return of Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 is not a tough call. The fans of the series are spread all across the globe. And each episode release creates havoc on the internet. Fans can be assured that their favorite superhero story is set to return. But production and release times can come in the way of the official renewal.
Miraculous Ladybug Season 5: Production Updates
Jeremy Zag, who is the developer of the show, had some interesting updates for the fans. Three years back, in January 2018, the showrunner posted an Instagram update. In this post, he confirmed that the team of ML was working on both Seasons 4 and 5. A similar word was said by executive Producer Sébastien Thibaudeau. In the 2017 Miraculous Event, the maker confirmed that they have a plan for a long Miraculous series, seasons 4 and 5. This might be considered a bit of stretch.
But the confidence with which these creators are confirming the production suggests that Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 is not going anywhere. If these announcements had been in the news since 2018, it could be assumed it is already in production. In fact, Season 5 might be in the final stages of animation work by now.
Is There Enough Source Material?
As mentioned in the above subheads, Miraculous Ladybug is an original story created by Thomas Astruc. The storyboard writer and director has been quite vocal on the internet. From returns to plot updates to upcoming releases, he chooses to talk to his followers directly through his Twitter feed. In the most recent update, the artist confirmed the second season of Totally Spies. So, if ever the content of Miraculous Ladybug was running out, the artist would have confirmed that same.
Since he has not shed light on any such hindrance, fans can be assured that Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 has enough storyline to plot another season. And the earlier announcements confirm that a plot for the next season has been in writing since 2018. However, the plan ahead is in an uncertain position.
What Will Happen Next?
A lot is in talk when it comes to the fifth season. Since there is no definite source material of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, there is no plot to count on. Writer Thomas Astruc was keen about giving away the plot details of the upcoming season. In the Hashtag Festival 2021, the artist confirmed that the season would take place in a new location. This was the Agreste Mansion Kitchen. Earlier, this season was planned to come with Season 4.
However, the land could not make it to ‘Gabriel Agreste’ due to production constraints. So, Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 will be the final season to cover the Agreste Family arc of the story. Fans are expecting the arc to conclude with either Adrien or Marinette finding out about the feelings of the other person. But one question remains the same for this season as well, will Adrien and Marinette get together?

Set in modern-day Paris, Miraculous Ladybug tells the story of two young girls who are living two lives. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien. Both of them are secret superheroes who go by the names of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Their sole purpose in life is to protect the common citizens of Paris from the wrath of Hawk Moth, who is using akumas to turn people into supervillains. But the biggest twist of the story is that Adrien is in love with Ladybug, and Marinette is in love with Cat Noir. But the two of them are not in love with their original selves. This creates a natural tension between the two leads of the show.
As this superhero story continues, the fourth season mixes the relationships and the action sequences. On the one hand, Adrien breaks up with Kagami only to find that he has turned into a supervillain Lies. Meanwhile, the same thing happens between Luka and Marinette. After breaking up with her, his evil feeling turns him into the villain named Truth. In the final episode, Gabriel is caught amid the suspicion of being the Shadow Moth. But he has better plans to recuperate with these rumors.
Spin-offs and Reboots
At the time of writing, only two spin-off projects have been announced. One of these has already been released and garnered praise. The other one, a musical film, Ladybug & Cat Noir Awakening, is announced for a 2022 release. However, there is no update on the project as of yet. Further, Miraculous Chibi is a spin-off series that launched on YouTube in August 2018. There are no further projects underway as of yet. Since these projects take away a huge chunk of the original team, makers tend to keep this frequency low.
Miraculous Ladybug Season 5: Release Date
Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 does not have a confirmed release date as of yet. In fact, the conclusion of season four also refrained from giving away a confirmed release date. There has been a year’s gap in-between all season releases. Thus, 2022 can be considered a gap year since the fourth season finds a conclusion in this year. So, fans can only hope to watch the fifth season in the later months of 2023.
