Mushoku Tensei Season 2: Renewal Status
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 has finally been renewed. The news comes through the official social media pages of the anime itself. Fans of the series took the internet by storm when the announcement first came to the floors. The final episode of the second cour of the first seasons did not give away any news of it coming back. Even after the season halted in December 2021, the makers did not announce the return of the second season. Judging by the sheer scale and popularity of this isekai franchise, a renewal was not a tough call for Studio Bind.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2: Production Details
Since the second season has been confirmed, there are endless rumors of the production work of the series. Multiple trusted news leak platforms have confirmed that the second season of the series is already under production. The rumors have sparked only because of the launch of a new Studio. Bind launched a new production company under the name of VOLN to work on the second season.
With the studio handling a single project, it becomes much easier for the prediction market to speculate the extent of production. In fact, it has also been rumored that Mushoku Tensei Season 3 might also be under works at Studio VOLN. The makers are only waiting to get past the March 2022 deadline to announce the season for a brand-new plate. Any announcement in Winter 2022 would not heat up speculations causing a rush for the animation company.

Previous Season Recap!
The first season ended up getting two cours due to the covid restrictions. With the first season introducing the isekai world and the characters, the second cour followed up on the adventures of the protagonist. Rudeus was a common hopeless young man who was reincarnated in a new world. With his memories retained, Rudeus had decided that he was going to live his life to the fullest. And so, his adventures in the new fantasy world continued.
The second cour spent most of the time chasing Rudeus’ arc with his missing family. After bumping into Paul during one of his expeditions, Rudues was determined to find all the members of his family and bring them back to Paul. Even though the boy had no feelings for his father, he felt that getting them back together was his moral obligation.
In the final episode, Rudeus was able to send his sister back to Paul. With his mother still missing, Rudues was determined to continue his journey with Eris. However, when he woke up the next day, all he could find were the chopped-off hair of Eris and a note saying that she had decided to part her ways.
Plot Details!
The next season of Mushoku Tensei will pick up from the exact point where the story concluded. After Eris’ departure, the protagonist became highly depressed and lonely. While this story is parallelly continuing in the newly-launched Depressed Magician Arc manga, the anime is bound to follow different pacing. After bypassing Rudeus’s grief arc, the story will be taking him to the University of Magic.
After adventuring in the city of the labyrinth and the Northern lands of the Kingdom, Rudues will be deviated towards polishing his skills as a sorcerer. On top of this, Mushoku Tensei Season 2 will also play out the arc of the Orsted that has been bothering Rudues since the raid. Fans can also expect to see more of the ecchi storylines in the new Orc Hero Story.
Is There Enough Source Material?
Mushoku Tensei has the most interesting case of source material availability. The original story draws its plot from the 2014 light novel of the same name. The series has only serialized 25 volumes as of yet. However, according to author Rifujin na Magonote, the entirety of the first 24 volumes is a prequel to the upcoming story that he has planned. The entire story is going to be a vast six-part franchise serialized in such twenty-four volumes.
The first season, including the first and the second cour, only used the first six volumes of the light novel. This means that there are about nineteen more volumes to cover in the upcoming seasons. Hence, the source material is not a factor hindering the return of the series. In fact, it is safe to say that Mushoku Tensei Season 2 will return in a short time with a solid slated release announcement.
Is The Third Season Already In Production?
Twitter leak account SugoiLITE has released many trustable pieces of news in the past. Most of its announcements regarding popular shonen releases have come out to be true in the past. Similarly, the page confirmed back in December 2021 that a third season is already under works at Studio Bind. At the time of writing, neither the new studio nor the parent company White Fox has confirmed the authenticity of this leak.
But since a separate studio is working on building a series, it can be assumed that the leak might actually be true. If the return is actually confirmed, fans will have a tight binge schedule till 2024 at the least.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2: Release Date
As of the last update, there is no official word on the release date of the second season. However, it might also be a bit of a hurry to expect an announcement right after the pilot wrapped up things. Thus, considering that the anime is in production, an announcement might come in the spring slate of this year. So, fans can expect to see a timely release of Mushoku Tensei Season 2 by Fall 2022.
