Is There Enough Source Material?
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru is based on Shinichi Fukuda’s manga of the same name. First published in January 2018, the manga has released a total of 74 chapters (March 2022), compiled into nine volumes. The release is monthly leading to the slow pace of the text. So, the first season’s twelve episodes cover the first 39 chapters of the manga. This means that Season 1 covers half the manga already.
Hence, there is still sufficient material left for the second season. Starting with Chapter 40, CloverWorks can certainly continue the story of Gojo dressing up his favorite person life. And until the production announcement, the manga will get more chapters for an adaptation.
What Will Happen In Season 2?
In My Dress-Up Darling Episode 12, Kitagawa was scared in the night after watching a horror movie. Thus, she called up Gojo so that she could talk to him. But as she kept talking, Gojo fell asleep. Kitagawa could not help but adore Gojo’s innocence. She said Gojo’s name and told him how much she loves him. Now, the 40th chapter starts with Gojo peeking at the map of the facility that was conducting the cosplay event. This shows us that everything went well after the previous night and that Gojo did not hear anything.
Meanwhile, Kitagawa is approached by a fellow cosplayer who had become her fan from other events. This time she was dressed up as Himeno Amane, the Hoshimori Idol High School Student. Likewise, Gojo had also adorned the traditional Japanese costume, a haori and a nagagi. Such events continue to take place in the lives of Gojo and Kitagawa while they also deal with school work conflicts with friends in My Dress-Up Darling Season 2.
Spin-offs & Production Updates: CloverWorks’ Tedious Schedule
It is an undeniable fact that Studio CloverWorks has a lot in its hands for the year 2022. After animating three shows for the January 2022 slate (Tokyo 24th Ward, My Dress-Up Darling, Akebi’s Sailor Uniform), the company will be working on four other for the rest of the year. This includes Spy X Family Anime, In the Heart Of Kunoichi Tsubaki, Shadows House Season 2, and Bocchi The Rock Anime. For the fans who don’t know, production companies need to be booked months in advance to get the correct dates.
Thus, if the makers of MDUD had plans for renewal ahead of time, then there is a possibility that My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 will begin production soon enough. However, that does not seem to be the case. It is only looking like the sequel will have to wait until Fall 2022 to commence animation work at this particular studio.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2: Release Date
It will take CloverWorks a year at the least to begin the production of the sequel. Moreover, the source material is also a little behind in number.
