This era’s Big Three will certainly include My Hero Academia besides Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan. Both the manga and the anime have received an overwhelming response from the masses and critics alike. The manga circulates over 50 million copies by 2021 worldwide. However, the more recent developments have raised questions in regards to the protagonist of the story. The one question that fans keep pondering about is how many quirks does Deku have?
In a hero society where eighty percent of the world has some kind of superpower, Izuku Midoriya was born quirkless (powerless). It was much later in the story that he got the powers from the world’s greatest hero- All Might. Since Deku possesses the One For All, there have been different manifestations of it throughout the series. This means that this power has branched into multiple quirks. So, how many quirks does Deku actually have? Let’s track them all down.
How Did Dekuu Get His Quirks?
Deku was born without any quirks. He was a Quirkless boy until middle school. However, he encountered All Might, the greatest hero of all time. The superhero possessed the transferable Quirk, One For All. This Quirk had two properties, that is, stockpiling power and transferring. However, since One For All had transferred successor to successor, it is yet to reveal its full potential. If its mathematics is correct, there should be one manifestation of One For All per every inheritor of the Quirk.
Moreover, it has been established that Deku is the 9th inheritor of this power. The original Quirk of the first bearer was stockpiling power. Moreover, this fused with his transferring Quirk as was in history. After this occurrence, six users had some kind of existing quirk. And the other two didn’t, including Deku. Hence, in total, there would be seven manifestations of One For All. Thus, here are all the quirks that Deku has been able to unleash so far.
Stockpile Power & Transfer
This is the legacy quirk that initiated the chain of quirks in One For All. The Stockpile Power & Transfer quirk allows the use of stock energy and physical power. There is no physical limit to its power. So, people with this quirk can continuously work hard to increase their prowess. Although Deku took time learning to handle it, he is on the way to completely mastering the Quirk. The only issue seems to be the backlash that hits him every time he uses it. But it is likely that Deku will be able to conquer it.
Blackwhip: Banjo Daigoro’s Quirk
According to the explanation given by All Might, Blackwhip is an Emitter type of Quirk. Deku was able to awaken this Quirk in My Hero Academia Season 5 of the anime. It gave him the power to bring out dark energy tendrils. During the joint training session in the first half of the season, these tendrils came out of Deku’s powers. Using these, Izuku could grab objects nearby or swing them around. They can also be used for movement.
Float: Shimura Nana’s Quirk
Nana Shimura was the predecessor of All Might. Deku was also able to manifest Shimura Nana’s Quirk much later in the story. The Float quirk allows Deku to suspend himself mid-air. Since this Quirk is combined with stockpile power, it helps its users reach extremely high speeds. Deku unlocked this Quirk during the war on the Paranormal Liberation Front while dodging an attack.
Fa Jin: Unknown User
Much like Banjo Daigoro’s quirk, this one is also an Emitter type of Quirk. Deku can use this Quirk to build up and store kinetic energy. Then, he can release it later as either speed or strength. According to the My Hero Academia manga, the user of this power can also choose to use parts of that energy for short bursts of speed. Since it’s combined with the stockpile power, Fa Jin was able to take the body to 100% without any backlash.

Smokescreen: En
Smokescreen is one quirk that has not made it to the anime just yet. Deku can use this quirk to generate a thick cloud of smoke. The smoke affects a considerably large area. However, the drawback is that too much of this smoke can backfire on the user. The user will find it difficult to navigate. There is also no offensive technique to this Quirk. However, it is believed that En was a master of this power.
Danger Sense: Shinomori Hikage
Much like spidey-sense, Danger Sense acts on instinct. It was revealed that Deku can use Shinomori Hikagi’s power to detect threats nearby. Although this causes a stabbing sensation in his head, it has turned out to be useful. Moreover, the Quirk is able to sense intent and negative emotions. However, there is a drawback here as well. The detection takes a toll on the user’s body. The more dangerous the intent, the more the toll.
This is a comprehensive list of all the Quirks Deku has been able to manifest so far. In addition to these, Deku is also able to gain insights. He subconsciously is able to have access to the consciousness of the previous users. With this, we can conclude that My Hero Academia is about to become interesting as the story progresses. In addition to the full extent of his potential being reached, it will be interesting to see how the plot develops.
