The One Piece saga is one of the longest-running series of all time. It is also considered to be one of the Big Three. The anime series became popular because of its charismatic characters, epic battles, and long-running storyline. Moreover, Netflix is already streaming the entire One Piece series. Eiichiro Oda wrote and illustrated the One Piece Manga series in 1997. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump has published the series since then. The series is still ongoing. And as of December 2021, the chapters are compiled into 101 volumes. This media franchise has become one of Japan’s biggest franchises of all time. Toei Animation produced an anime adaptation of the series in 1999. Moreover, the company has also produced 14 film adaptations and 13 television specials. There are also video games, OVAs, and more.
One Piece Specials: Netflix Announcements
Netflix has revealed that it will be streaming two One Piece Specials later this month. This is a part of Netflix trying to become the One Piece hub because the One Piece Live-Action series is already in production. A Twitter account, WTK, has listed out the specials. The episodes that will be available are “Episode of Alabasta” and “Episode of Chopper”. These specials are actually compilation films of the respective arcs. Both the episode teasers have Japanese Audio, so it might be only the English Sbbbed versions that are released. However, the English Dub fans are hoping for positive news.
Plot Details!
Monkey D. Luffy is the main character of the show. He accidentally ate the demon fruit, and his body gained rubber properties. The boy is a huge fan of a famous pirate, Shanks. And inspired by his idol, Luffy creates his own crew. The crew is the Straw Hat Pirates. They then set off on a long quest to find a treasure, One Piece. The greatest pirate of all time had hidden this treasure. And whoever found it would become the King of Pirates. The story follows the main character as he makes friends, builds his crew, and goes on long adventures for the One Piece.
The “Episode of Alabasta” is a compilation film about the Alabasta Arc from the anime series. In this arc, the Straw Hat Pirates are in Alabasta. It is a desert country that is in the middle of a revolution. However, this revolution turns out to be a plot by Crocodile, who is trying to have a coup against the ruler, Cobra. The story follows the crew that joins hands with a desert princess to cross the desert, save people and defeat Crocodile. Similarly, the “Episode of Chopper” is a compilation film. The plot here is that Nami falls ill. In order to treat her, the Straw Hat Pirates go to Drum Island, where more adventures follow.
One Piece Specials: Release Details
Netflix has announced that the One Piece Specials will be ready to stream from February 15, 2022. There is no word about the English Dub; however, the English Subbed version will be ready.
