Well, there’s no denying that the series gained a massive fan following just after its debut. Despite being hugely popular, it was shelved after one season. The pilot season aired in 2010, and nobody has heard of Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt since then. But finally, avid anime fans’ dream is coming true.
Studio Trigger, formed by former Gainax employee Hiroyuki Imaishi, has promised to bring back the cult classic animes. This doesn’t end here. The official announcement came as a part of the tenth-anniversary celebration. Studio Trigger confirmed their latest project, Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2, at Anime Expo 2023. The studio house revealed back then that they were working on several new projects like Delicious in Dungeon. While the anime adaptation is now ready for its sequel, Studio Trigger confirmed they are ready to bring back their popular projects.
During the announcement, the studio house shared the first trailer of Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2, leaving fans in awe. The trailer began with Panty and Stocking showing their two middle fingers to announce Season 2. On July 4, 2024, the official account of New Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt confirmed that “The Bitches Are Back!” It dropped the first teaser trailer, where Panty and Stocking can be seen having fun with their pals in the driveway. When Will Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2 Undergo Production?

Studio Trigger confirmed two years ago that the team had started working on Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2. The pilot season was an adaptation of the manga series by Tagro. The manga started serializing in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Magainze. However, the manga series also ran for one year, from August 2010 to June 2011. It was compiled in one tankobon volume. Sadly, the pilot season covered the entire source material, leaving no room for Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2. But you don’t have to be disappointed. That’s because illustrator and Studio Trigger founder Hiroyuki Imaishi returned with the same manga the same year.
His artwork was published in NewType before being changed to Monthly Anime Style magazine. So, there’s hope that the second season will cover Imaishi’s artwork. Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2: What To Expect Next?
As of now, there’s no official news about the second season’s plot. However, if the series continues from the first season’s finale, then it’s likely that the siblings’ misadventure will continue. In the finale, Panty loses her powers and is eventually kicked out by Garterbelt. She later starts living with an old woman, who convinces her to stop Brief from opening the Hell’s Gate. Despite Panty’s attempt, Brief opens the door and unleashes a massive Ghost. The evil Ghost later creates havoc in the city.
To stop the Ghost and Corset, Panty and Stocking use Garterbelt’s credit card to buy some weapons after Garterbelt’s death. While their attempt goes in vain, they later summon their mother, who destroys the Ghost and again kicks out the siblings from heaven—this time for using Garterbelt’s credit card. The siblings are now back in the city, and Garterbelt is back to keep an eye on them.
While the first season ended on a massive note, it left many loose ends to be explored in Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2.
