However, as the story progressed, most of the students found their calling in the new worlds. Most of them gave up because of the spontaneity of the drifts. Thus, by the final episode, only Nagara, Mizuho, and Nozomi were ones left who wanted to find a way back home. However, Nozomi died in the penultimate episode, and only the couple was left. The finale episode of Sonny Boy is unusual in many ways. As Nagara and Mizuho began to drift again, they met reunited with many characters who crossed paths earlier in the journey. By the end of the season, it was projected that they reached home and were leaving for the summer vacation.

Due to the fact that the series has no source material, the constraints on the number of seasons are also not there. However, it is still uncertain if Shingo has plans to develop a second season.
