On Tuesday this week, Kyoto Animation said that the “Ensemble Concert” arc of the Sound Euphonium anime will soon be shown in Japanese theaters. In April 2015, 13 episodes of the first anime TV show based on the franchise began airing. Crunchyroll streamed the anime in real-time, and Pony Canyon USA handled home media distribution. The anime was the inspiration for the Gekij-ban Hibike! It was released in April 2016 and is a “flashback” film by Kitauji Koko. Here is all you need to know.
In the past, Kyoto Animation has dropped hints that they plan to adapt the Concert narrative into a “medium-length” anime. The anime will be released in theatres and on home video. Tatsuya Ishihara will once again direct the Kyoto Animation series. Ayano Takeda, the first person to write a light novel, told the story of Kumiko’s junior year of high school in two books. Both volumes came out this year, with Volume 1 arriving in April and Volume 2 in June of 2019. In the same year, two further animated features were announced by Kyoto Animation. Liz and the Blue Bird, with Mizore Yoroizuka and Nozomi Kasaki in the lead roles, debuted in April 2018 in Japan.
Sound Euphonium Anime: Official Announcement
On December 27, 2022, a preview trailer for an OVA based on the “Ensemble Concert” arc of Sound! Euphonium by Kyoto Animation came out. There will be a premiere for the OVA in Japan soon. The anime is getting a theatrical debut before making its way to Blu-ray. The show’s executive producer is Naoko Yamada, and animator Tatsuya Ishihara is in charge of the animation.
With its premiere in October 2016, Euphonium 2 is a 13-episode sequel series. Crunchyroll began streaming reruns of the anime throughout its initial run, while Pony USA later published the series on home video. The second season of the anime, which started that month, was what gave rise to the 2017 retrospective film. Eleven Arts released the film in theaters across the United States in November 2018, and it is available in both Japanese and English.
What Is The Plot?
In her first year at Kitauji High School, Kumiko Oumae has made it her goal to put her painful past behind her. Despite her best efforts to start over, she finds herself back in the school band club. She plays the euphonium, thanks to her new acquaintances Sapphire Kawashima and Hazuki Katou. The band is in such bad shape right now that they can’t even compete at the local Sunfest, much less at the national level. Noboru Taki, the band’s new advisor, allows them to either chill-out and have a good time or work hard and try to make it to nationals.
Kumiko is hesitant to try out for nationals because she doesn’t want to make the same mistakes she did in middle school. In the middle of all this chaos, she learns that her former bandmate Reina Kousaka, with whom she had a tense relationship, has joined the band club at Kitauji. Noboru’s rigorous training puts Kumiko and the rest of the band members through their paces. And they were forced to work over their differences to achieve their goals as a unit.
Sound Euphonium Anime: Release Date
The forthcoming third season of the anime is set to premiere in 2024. Crunchyroll has the first two seasons available if you want to see the anime. A theatrical premiere and a Blu-ray release of the new products are in the works. Kitauji High School’s Concert Band Club is the protagonist in this tale.
