The Sword Art Online Progressive Movie Aria of a Starless Night is essentially a continuation of the anime franchise. The story will be set in the same world as the anime series. However, the events will play out in the same order. Right from the beginning, even before the existence of “The Black Swordsman” and “Lightning Flash,” Asuna was only a normal person. However, her life changed when she was transferred into the game world.
Here, she will meet her long-term friend Kirito. The rules of the games are simple. Each player has to go through hundred levels to get to the final round. One can leave the VR game only after clearing the hundredth round. Thus, all the significant events of the series will play out in the movie. Many arcs that were skipped in the series are now a part of the film. Thus, fans can expect much more from it than just the same storyline.

The Sword Art Online Progressive Movie Aria of a Starless Night has already premiered in Japan. The initial response has been overwhelming. The makers have also announced the timely western release dates of the movie. So, the film is set to release on December 3, 2021, in US and Canada. A week later, it will premiere in Australia and New Zealand on December 9, 2021. According to Funimation, the movie is also scheduled to release in the UK and Latin America.
