Tekken is one of the most popular fighting games in the world, and its seventh installment, which was the most amazing ever, has left fans eager for the next installment. A new trailer and a message from Tekken’s producer, Katsuhiro Harada, have confirmed the long-standing rumors about a new Tekken. A new Tekken game is on the way, and it looks incredible. Though details on Tekken 8 were scarce during Sony’s State of Play, we’ve collated everything we know so far, including our best guesses about the game’s characters and their potential story arcs.
Bandai Namco is finally moving on to Tekken 8, which showed off some impressive gameplay at Sony’s September 2022 State of Play after receiving a long support period. Sony State of Play in September revealed one of the most anticipated fighting games. When it shocked Tekken fans by announcing that Tekken 8 was in development and presenting a teaser displaying gameplay in the new game engine. Here is all we know about Tekken 8.
Tekken 8: Official Announcement!
This is the first Tekken game in over seven years, and the first video featured a fight between Kazuya and Jin and showed off the game’s amazing aesthetics. The fighting system in Tekken 8 hasn’t been shown yet. But the game’s focus on locations, dynamic venues, and backgrounds is a good sign that the series will get a new lease on life. The clip represents the current state of the developing fighting game as it was culled from the in-game story mode.
And in a Blog post, Harada explains that the team is paying close attention to the characters’ features as well as particle effects like water and how they interact. In addition to the previously mentioned storm rendering, immense weather density, and dynamic settings, like a massive tanker breaking apart in the background, Harada highlights these features even more so. From what we can see in this first trailer, Tekken 8 looks fantastic.
What Is The Storyline?
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot. But it establishes that Jin Kazama and his allies will finally bring down Kazuya. For the first time since Tekken 2, Jin’s mother, Jun Kazama, makes an official return. At the end of Tekken 7, it looked like Kazuya killed his father, Heihachi. And the G Corporation and the Mishima Zaibatsu kept fighting worldwide for years. Meanwhile, Jin wakes up from his coma and begins plotting revenge on Kazuya.
Recent episodes have focused heavily on Jin and Kazuya’s shared possession of the devil gene. A genetic power that allows them to transform into more powerful devil forms. Jin, unlike Kazuya, has not yet mastered control of his demon gene. Therefore, his devil form can easily overtake him. The teaser ends cryptically, but it seems Jin has also got the devil gene. It will be intriguing to see how this affects Jin’s story, as well as the existence of Devil Jin.
Tekken 8: Release Date
During The Game Awards, a new teaser was shown. It details a few plot points and hints that some familiar faces would be back. But it seems the release date information will be a bit coming. Katsuhiro Harada, the game’s creator, has said that Unreal Engine 5 is being used to make the game from scratch. The Tekken 7 assets would not be reused either. This puts the release date of the game somewhere between late 2023 and, more likely, 2024. There Will Be More News to Come.
