We know that you have been waiting for The Deer King Film for the past year. The six-volume novel series by Nahoko Uehashi was all set to release back in September 2020. But due to the pandemic restrictions, the release was called off. However, fans can finally mark their calendars because this fantasy film finally has a release date. Under the able hands of director Masashi Ando, the project is all set to hit the big screens.
The TDK movie project initially saw an announcement in June 2018. Almost after three years of production work, the project is out for release. In commemoration of this, the Studio Production IG and distributor GKIDS have come out with a new trailer and some insider visuals of the film. The Deer King Film: New Trailer Out!
Prior to the film’s final release, the makers have released a brand new trailer for The Deer King Film. The clip also reveals a new sneak peek visual from the upcoming movie. Moreover, the trailer also contains the new single by Milet, “One Reason.” The trailer beautifully depicts the rough premise of the story that we are about to witness. What Is The Premise?
The Deer King Film will tell the story of the Empire of Zol that has recently acquired the kingdom of Aquafa. The only place that this empire could not take control over was the Fire House Territory of Aquafa. The reason was the Black Wolf Fever that spreads like wildfire in that area. With this setup, we are introduced to a soldier and a naive girl, Van, and Yuna. Both of them accidentally stumble upon the wolves in the woods.
After getting bitten, both of them escape with the deadly virus. But what follows is an expected trail of events that leads to a gruesome war between the Empire of Zol and Aquafa. So, how did a disease lead to war? Watch The Deer King Film to find out yourself.

The Deer King Film: Release Date
Much like other projects that faced delay due to the ongoing pandemic, The Deer King Film also had the same case. The film was originally set to theatrically release on September 18, 2020. But then, the dates got a pushed ahead due to the health crisis. Now, the film will hit the Japanese theatres on September 10, 2021. We hope that this one is the final release date this time. Moreover, the movie will premiere in western theatres in the early months of 2022. We will be sure to update this section as soon as a solid release date is out.
