The Misfit of Demon King Academy began as a web novel. Shu started releasing the story on Shosetsuka ni Naro, a novel publishing website. After that, ASCII Media Works started publishing them as light novels under Dengeki Bunko. As of October 2021, the series has completed ten volumes. A manga adaptation began in 2018 via Square Enix’s Manga Up! In addition, Square Enix released the English version of the manga. Though popular, the manga adaptation was canceled. It was due to the death of Kayahruka, the manga’s illustrator.
The Misfit of Demon King Academy Casts Anox’s New Voice Actor
As per reports, the lead voice actor of ‘The Misfit of Demon King Academy’ Tatsuhisa Suzuki stepped down from playing the role. This decision followed the announcement of his hiatus. On August 4, 2021, the singer, voice actor announced a break from the entertainment industry activities. The actor went on hiatus due to mental fatigue and poor health. Suzuki willingly stepped down from his role and issued a public apology for his reckless behavior on August 30, 2021.
However, the anime’s website has finally revealed the new voice actor to be Yuichiro Umehara. He will voice the main lead of Anos Voldigoad in the second season of ‘The Misfit of Demon King Academy’. Umehara is famous for his roles in Cautious Hero, Goblin Slayer, and Young Black Jack. The series will return with two different cours. The change in the casting could delay the anime. What Will Happen In Season 2?
The first season of the series draws its story from the first three volumes of Shu’s light novel. In the pilot season, the mighty demon king, Anos, makes a deal with hero Kanon. Anos sacrifices himself for peace and reincarnates two thousand years into the future. After reincarnation, he joins the Demon King Academy. Due to the deterioration of magic, the school is the only place still with magic. However, he learns that Jerga and his followers betrayed Kanon. In doing so, they continue the practice of demon resentment.
The first season ended with Kanon reincarnating and fighting alongside Anos. Both of them put an end to Jerga and his forces. The show might follow the ‘Great Spirit Arc’ in the next season. Season 2 will show how Anos will resume as the demon king. In addition, it will introduce a much powerful enemy, Nousgalia, a god who hates Anos. Nousgalia will come in the disguise of a new teacher. So, the next season will focus on Anos dealing with the new god all the while balancing the mantle of peace.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy: Release Date
The first season of the anime was released in 2020. Masafumi Tamura has directed the series at Studio Silver Link. Crunchyroll streamed the first season. And Aniplex America has streamed the English dub. In addition, the website announced that the second season would air in split cours. Considering all the changes, the anime is expected to air by mid-2022.
