Well, the show was actually made to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the studio. Its first episode aired on January 4, 2019. Whereas, the series ended on March 22 of that year after running for 12 episodes.

In this anime, fans got to see the story from two different perspectives. The first one is of Princess Yuki, and the one is of the elite soldier Stella Shining. Princess Yuki’s side of the story was really good, and the viewers actually enjoyed it. However, Stella’s side was quite different from this one.
It felt like the makers didn’t put any effort into her side of the story. In the beginning, The Price of Smiles looked promising, but because of its poor execution, it failed to reach its potential. The animation in the series was good, but it has a lot of other flaws. Overall, the show is good enough to kill time, but it could have been a lot better.
The Price of Smiles Season 2: Renewal Status!
The debut season of the anime received a mixed response from everyone. It managed to gain a fanbase but failed to get good reviews from the critics.
