Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun, aka My Little Monster, is a Japanese slice-of-life comedy anime series. Brain’s Base adapted the manga series of the same title by Robico to produce this show. It made its debut on October 2, 2012. It only ran for thirteen episodes and ended on December 25 of the same year. Since then, its fans are anticipating a sequel.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Season 2: Renewal Status!
The early love confession in this show caught the viewers by surprise as it usually happens in the end. The main character, who is a psychopath, is ready to go to any extent to get the girl he likes. These elements are enough to make anyone hooked. The viewers really liked the series and would love to see more of it. However, Studio Brian’s Base is yet to reveal its renewal status. Fans have been waiting for the past eight years to get an update regarding Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Season 2. However, it didn’t happen so far. The animation studio or any of the anime’s producers never renewed or canceled the show for its future installments.
Is There Enough Source Material?
The serialization of this manga series began back in 2008. It ended after five years on June 24, 2013. During these five years, the author has published a total of 13 volumes. However, one of them was a special one. Out of these 12, the first season of the anime series has adopted only four of them. This means Studio Brain Base still has content from the remaining eight volumes to produce Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Season 2. They can even make two seasons from the remaining source material.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Season 2: Will The Anime Return?
This anime series became quite popular around the globe soon after it was released. It ranked at number 113 in popularity on MAL and held a score of 7.54 on the same platform. Its viewership was also great. However, the sales of the series disappointed its makers. Despite its popularity, the adaptation didn’t boost the sales of its source material that much. The manga series has already ended, and it has been eight years since the viewers last saw it. Therefore, it is likely that the fans will not see Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Season 2. The fact that it has nothing left to promote completely erased the chances for its second season to happen.
