Who Is Nakime? How Did She Become A Demon?
Nakime is a Biwa musician who had a hard time making a living out for herself. She was married to a man who did not support her at all. In fact, he was a hindrance because of his gambling addiction. There came a time when her husband wagered her only dress, which Nakime was going to perform in that night. This compelled Nakime to go berserk and lose all the calm that she had stored for all these years. She was furious and lost all her senses.
She hit her husband with a hammer until he took his last breath. Nakime then performed in raggedy clothes, which found the audience’s disapproval. That night she was shaking because of the insane deed that she had committed. However, the shaking and stumbling struck cords that the spectators became a fan of. The music was so soulful that everyone present was impressed. Soon, Nakime gets a habit of killing people before her performances, so she would play the way she did that one night.

She would randomly kill off people, and one night she chose a new man as her target. Now, this man was none other than Muzan. It can be easily said that she could not kill the Demon King. However, praising Nakime’s search skills, Muzan offers her to transform into a demon and join his army. To which Nakime certainly obliged.
Why Did Muzan Kill Nakime?
It all happens during the Infinity Castle Arc of the manga. The battle between the Hashiras and Muzan and his army has just begun. Nakime has been raised to the position of Upper Moon Four after the dismissal of Hantengu. So, the Demon Slayer Corps arrived at the Ubuyashiki Castle. Mitsuri and Obanai face Nakime foremost but are overwhelmed due to her Blood Demon Art. Soon, Muzan appeared and challenged Tanjiro and Giyu. The Demon King had thought that Nakime had defeated two of the Hashiras she had encountered.
However, they both rose and attacked. Moreover, Yushiro showed off his masterclass skills and took control of Nakime’s vision which led her to have no control over the castle. On the other hand, Muzan seemed to be doing well with Mitsuri and Obanai but soon got targeted by Tanjiro and Giyu. This results in him losing his grip over the fallen soldier, Nakime. He realizes that he cannot retreat Nakime and fight the Demon Slayers all at the same time. Hence, Muzan crushes Nakime’s head which leads to Yushiro losing control over the castle, which he did because Nakime’s powers got exploited. Thus, Muzan kills Nakime in the Infinity Castle Arc.
While the killing might be due to selfish means, it cannot go without mentioning that Nakime was one of Muzan’s favorites. However, that is due to her skill which summoned demons into the Infinity Castle at the order of Muzan. Her presence in the series is short, but it was enough to showcase her worth in the Twelve Upper Moons. Thus, for more updates on the same, keep coming back to The Anime Daily.
