The third season of World Trigger only came to an end in 2021, and the word around World Trigger Season 4 is spreading like wildfire. But the speculation of the fourth season is not the only concern for the people associated with this franchise. The degrading health conditions of author Daisuke Ashihara are also something that fans are worried about. However, even in a tough time like this, the third season managed to outshine even the most popular anime banner. So, can the same be expected from the next season? What lies ahead for the franchise? Here is everything to know about the renewal of Season 4.
World Trigger is a long-standing franchise that first came out in the year 2013. This was Daisuke Ashihara’s first project that rose to popularity at this skill. Backed by the Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga serialized twenty-four volumes at the time of writing. In 2014, Toei Animation launched the anime wing of the project. With the third season finishing airing in January 2022, the demand for a new season is higher than ever.
World Trigger Season 4: Renewal Status
At the time of writing, there is no update on the comeback of World Trigger after the third season. However, if all the factors are compared and contrasted, it will be evident that World Trigger Season 4 is up for renewal. In the last seven years, the franchise has never failed to amaze fans season after season. Both critics and fans alike have praised the anime for its brilliant storytelling and sincere adaptation. The same is reflected in the official numbers as well.
The IMDb score of all three seasons combined is as high as 7.6 stars. On the other hand, more than a hundred-thousand fan rated the show to be above the score of 7.6 stars. Along with this, World Trigger Season 3 was also stamped as one of the top shows of 2021. Thus, it is safe to say that fans love the series and want to see more of it in the coming years.
Is There Enough Source Material?
In the case of World Trigger, fans fear that demands and petitions might not be able to bring back the series on time. Similar to what happened in the case of the second season, World Trigger Season 4 might also take a good five years to come back to the screens. But this time, the break will be seeking a serious issue. To put it simply, World Trigger anime has run out of source material. As of January 2022, the manga has released 217 chapters in total.
Moreover, with the release of Season 3 Episode 14, the anime ended up using up to the 196th chapter of the manga. In a rough calculation, it takes about two to three chapters to forge an episode. With only twenty chapters left, it is unlikely that Toei Animation would be able to animate more than ten episodes (one cour) out of this.
On top of this, author Daisuke Ashihara is also going through a serious health crisis. So, it can be assumed that both the production company and the author will come to an agreement to slow down the anime counterpart’s release.
World Trigger Season 4: Production Updates!
Toei Animation is a big production company in the anime business. With the continuous release of One Piece and Dragon Ball episodes, the company already operates under a strict schedule. And so, makers have booked the studio well ahead of the release in order to get in touch with the team. However, the case with World Trigger is not this smooth. As mentioned earlier, author Daisuke Ashihara has been dealing with health issues for a while now.
Midway through the series, the author had announced multiple breaks in the release of the manga. The most recent hiatus was announced on December 27, 2021. The official Twitter account of the Jump SQ magazine announced that the manga was taking a break this month in light of the author’s poor health. And so, Chapter 218 was delayed for a February release.
Now that the source material is also scarce and the author can also not afford work beyond his capacity, the production of World Trigger Season 4 in such a time. However, even if the manga comes back from the break, only content enough for half-a-season would be released. Thus, it can be said that the fourth season will take a considerable break before commencing production once again.

Will There Be A Movie Project?
When Toei Animation announced the two new last-minute episodes in the third season, fans were skeptical of the idea. With only a mid-tier action sequence left in the season, the announcement seemed like a rushed decision. In contrast, the series could have opted to find space for a new movie project in the meantime. This would finish not only the remaining plot of Season 3 but also buy time for the makers to get more source material for the next season.
However, there is still time for the makers to forge a movie project. The Expedition Selection Exam Arc has more enough independent sources for a movie. However, this is only a pitched idea that is circling the discussion threads of Reddit and Twitter. There is no official update on whether there can be a movie project.

In contrast, some Redditors believe that the studio will not finish the entire season for the sake of animation.
