Yamishibai Japanese Ghost Series is reaching its fans again with another season. Yamishibai Season 10 has been renewed with a release window in the most surprising announcement. The last season was a 2021 release as well, and makers were quick to bring another great news for its fans. With the 9th season, particularly based on the Chinese Zodiac, expectations from the spooky series are high already. So, from renewal status to release date, here are all details about the latest release.
Yamishibai is an original ongoing Japanese horror anime series. The first season is a Tomoyo Takashima direction with Hiromu Kumamoto as the scriptwriter. Whereas, the next season received Takashi Shimizu and Noboru Iguchi’s direction. The first episode came out in 2013 and will complete ten seasons with this new release. Each season, the series airs 13 weekly episodes. Now, fans are excited over which myth or urban legend the new season will take on.
Yamishibai Season 10: Official Announcement!
The announcement of the tenth season came through the commercials of the Tokyo TV network. The official announcement also gave away the new staff and cast of the series. So, the show will once again feature its former staff members. This includes Akira Funada and Kenichi Sugimoto as the directors. For individual episode directions, another list of names will join the team, such as Kōichi Hirata, Naoya Miyasō, Yōsuke Inoue, and Megumi Yokoyama.
Two other scriptwriters are also joining Hiromu for the work. Kanji Tsuba reprising the role of the narrator is another great news for its fans. The makers have also revealed the full list of whoever is joining the cast of the 10th season. The voice artists will act for 13 episodes of the anime.
Yamishibai is a work under Studio ILCA. The episodes are barely longer than 20-minutes but deliver the story smoothly. A live-action series of the anime has also surfaced in September 2020. While it did not give away any video of the series, it had still imagery to depict all the stories. The photos were of landscape paintings with the cast members as the main focus.
What Will Be The Plot?
The series features an old man in a yellow mask as the narrator of ghost stories. He shows up in a children’s playground and recites stories based on myths and urban legends. Every week brings a new story to the viewers. In the 8th season, the man tells a story of his experience at an urban intersection, while the last release had the animals of the Chinese Zodiac as the central figure.
At the time of writing, the plot for the new season has not yet hit the news. However, it can be expected that Yamishibai Season 10 will follow the same format as the last nine series. The old man can cover many tales with a series of creepy stories yet to get hands-on.

Yamishibai Season 10: Release Date
Unfortunately, a solid release date is not yet out in the public domain. However, a January 2022 premiere is pitched by the studio. So, fans will not have to wait much longer. Both of the seasons of Yamishibai are available on Crunchyroll with English subtitles. On top of this, All-Entertainment Co., Ltd. has also released season one in DVD volume exclusively in Japan.
