Yashahime Princess Half-Demon Season 3: Canceled? Release Details

Yashahime Princess Half-Demon Season 2 Episode 20

The initial announcement of Inuyasha’s sequel was received with polarizing responses. Well, people were brimming with excitement for the return of the second series. However, many otakus believed that a classic should not be made again. Yet, when the sequel did come out, it managed to impress both these audiences. Now, The Second Act (second cour) has also come to an end. But fans are still waiting for the return of Yashahime Princess Half-Demon Season 3. Has the studio renewed it yet? Here is all you need to know about the return of the franchise.

Yashahime Princess Half-Demon is an original sequel to the story of Inuyasha. The pilot anime ran between 2000 to 2010. The story is based on the manga of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi. Ten years after the original story ended, Yashahime Princess Half-Demon was launched by Studio Sunrise. A manga of the same story was launched in September 2021, which was much later than the anime.

Yashahime Princess Half-Demon Season 3: Renewal Status

As of the last update from the side of the makers, there has not been any update on the return of Yashahime Princess Half-Demon Season 3. Neither the production company nor any of the staff members have given away any detail about the return. However, if the anime is to be judged from its reception, there is a high chance that a third season might come out sooner than fans expect. The IMDb score of the 2020 television series is as high as 7.2 stars. However, the MyAnimeList score of the series is considerably lower in number.

Around twenty-two thousand fans have rated the series under a 6.5-star rating. The second season did raise this number to 7.1 stars. These numbers are good enough for an early renewal. On top of this, there was only a seven-month gap between the first and the second. This raises the chances of the return of the series.

Production Updates!

As mentioned above, the second season made it to the floors in a matter of seven months. This reveals that Studio Sunrise is working day in and out to produce a season. As of now, there is no proper update on the production work of Season 3. However, it can be assumed that the work might begin soon enough. In fact, the season might already be under production if the makers are expecting to resume the series this year itself.

Adding to this is the fact that Yashahime is an original series. This means that the constraints of source material are not there in this particular anime. Thus, Studio Sunrise can extend the story for as long as they can.

Criticism

While the reception numbers of The Second Act do look promising, there were many problems with the overall execution. Fans believed that the entire story was too jumbled up. Instead of telling individual stories one after the other, each episode was filled with multiple arcs. This caused the series to become quiet a mess. The entire second season had multiple characters dealing with multiple nemeses at the same time. This way, none of the characters could get enough time to shine.

On top of this, the inconsistencies in the powers of the two sisters Towa and Setsuna was also a major criticism. But critique is a sign that people want something to improve in the second go. Thus, if the third season is devoid of messy subplots and mixed-up plotlines, then there is a high chance that the series might get more than 6 stars.

Plot Details!

The story of the second season of Yashahime picked up from the point where it left. Sisters Towa and Setsuna are going through a rough patch due to responsibilities that are coming their way. The daughters of Inuyasha and Kagaome are finding it difficult to stand up to the footsteps of their parents. Time and again, the story deviated from one pov to another. The driving factor of the entire season was the saving of Rin from the Sacred Tree of Ages. The mother of two was trapped inside the sacred valley as a result of a curse. However, as the daughters try to break the curse, Zero comes in their way to defeat the daughters.

The other hero of the story is Moroha, who is a quarter-bounty hunter. In the second season, Moroha ends up getting into the hefty business of working as a personal guard. Besides these tritagonists, there are other characters including the veterans and the younger generations. With as many characters, the storyline has many angles to cover.

On top of this, Yashahime Princess Half-Demon is not even an adaptation. This means that the season will not have any constraints on the source material. The story of legendary warriors can continue in the next edition. Fans can also expect to see Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna cross paths multiple times in the season.
